Cabar Feidh Pipe Band

Drum Sergeant John Davis

John Davis started his musical training in 1959 with a drum and bugle corps on the East Coast of the United States. He played with state, national and world drum and bugle corps champions before beginning his career in pipe band drumming in New Jersey.

After coming to California, John attended the College of Piping and spent 8 years as Drum Sergeant of the Cabar Feidh Pipe Band. It was during this period that his right hand was almost completely severed during a plate glass installation. John credits his recovery in part to his involvement with drumming and piping.

John joined Cabar Feidh in 1984 and has been Drum Sergeant since 1987. In addition to leading the Cabar Feidh corps, John also keeps busy by judging at Highland Games in California, Arizona and Colorado and by working with several Grade IV bands in the Los Angeles area.
